Construction of ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina, the first facility to be built in New York Harbour in the last 20 years, is expected to be completed this fall with a grand opening anticipated for spring 2016.

Set amidst the Brooklyn Bridge Park with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop, the marina comprises 102 berths with capacity to accommodate boats ranging 16ft to 250ft in length.

The project dates back to 2013, when joint venture partners SUTL Group and marine design and engineering firm Edgewater Resources, were selected by Brooklyn Bridge Park to develop and operate the marina.

This development aims to make the waterfront more accessible to the public and 2% of marina revenue will be dedicated to exceptional community programming that will make boating and kayaking available to residents of all ages, abilities, and incomes.

“In New York City we are surrounded by water yet there are so few opportunities to interact with the harbour,” comments Regina Myer, president of Brooklyn Bridge Park. “This marina with its robust free and low cost programming, makes the waterfront accessible in new ways to even more New Yorkers and puts Brooklyn on the map for the global boating community.”

Built with many environmental considerations in mind, the ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina will use 40% translucent decking materials to support the New York Harbour’s goal in re-establishing a habitat for prey fish.

SUTL Group is the Singapore-based owner and operator of the award-winning ONE°15 Marina Club Singapore. The facility has taken the Best Marina and Yacht Club in Asia award in 2009, 2012-2014.

Arthur Tay, chairman of SUTL Group, comments: “As we looked to expanding the brand into international destinations we identified the perfect opportunity in Brooklyn with the vibrant, lush public spaces of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Manhattan skyline backdrop and open water. Boaters and water enthusiasts from around the corner and around the world will feel at home at ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina.”

The marina’s Community Dock will be one of the largest docks in New York City, making up nearly 25% of the square footage of dock space at ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina once completed.

The Community Dock will offer free and affordable community boating, as well as a world-class facility. Free and affordable boating experiences will be coordinated by the marina with its community partners, and a full program is in development.

ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina also includes a sailing club and a members-only Harbour Club.
