The 650-berth marina entered operation in 2014 as part of an integrated development that also comprises 211 luxury apartments and 74 villas. Some of these properties can accommodate yachts of up to 60m alongside their garden. Andreas Christodoulides, Limassol Marina CEO, reports that 250 yachts are already residents and the number of visiting superyachts increases.
Located on the southern east tip of Cyprus, Limassol Marina is a 650-berths full service facility for yachts up to 110m. Also on site is a shipyard for light repairs and maintenance. A 5,000 tonnes capacity floating dry dock facility is located within 1nm.
The marina entered operation in 2014 and it is part of an integrated development that also comprises 211 luxury apartments and 74 villas with private berths or direct access to the beach. Some of these properties can accommodate superyachts of up to 60m alongside their garden.
Residents and berths users also benefit from a range of restaurants and shops onsite from international high-ticket brands, a spa and fitness club, sandy beach and cultural centre. A chandlery and a bank are also part of the mix.
“While berthing with us, superyacht owners and crews alike are quickly taken in by Limassol and Cyprus, and what they have on offer within easy reach of the marina,” comments Andreas Christodoulides, Limassol Marina CEO.
Limassol Marina is situated between two international airports 40 minutes’ drive away. In addition to the convenient access on land the company operates its own helipad.
“Due to our strategic location, we have a wide variety of visitors, from those based in the region looking for a warm and well-equipped homeport, to those on transit to or from the Med looking for a safe harbour, good quality fuel and a great destination for the crew to enjoy,” the marina boss explains.
A number of attractions are also within the development grounds. The site is just a stroll away from the heart of Limassol, the second largest city in Cyprus, which is vibrant, versatile and cosmopolitan.
First full service marina on the island
Christodoulides told Superyacht Business that 250 resident yachts are registered to date. With just two years in operation, the marina is also frequently visited by yachts in the 60m-plus range.
Yachting agents, Christodoulides adds, have also settled in their offices at the marina. Princess and Sunseeker are some of the international yacht brands operating from the marina. Other yacht brands with representation onsite are Azimut, Benetti, Riva, Ferretti, Pershing, CRN and Beneteau, to name but a few.
Commenting on the strategy behind the operation of the marina, Christodoulides explains: “We pride ourselves in the unique lifestyle created by our concept of ‘living on the sea’. Limassol Marina is the first superyacht marina in Cyprus and has been making history since its opening.”
With its large berth mix, the marina has also reported that occupancy levels increases across all size categories on a regular basis. “The local community, including yacht owners with offshore business headquarters in Limassol, have snapped up the opportunity to become part of this first full service marina of its kind on the island,” Christodoulides explains.
Looking ahead, Christodoulides says results for the upcoming season is already promising.
“As the marina matures we expect to see occupancy rates continue to increase across the range of berth sizes,” he says adding that “As a new superyacht destination in the Eastern Med we are regularly welcoming new visitors to our shores who are impressed by the standards in terms of facility construction, customer service, product mix and property development”.
Limassol Marina also features an active calendar of events established throughout the year, including regattas, festivities, the Limassol Boat Show, a music festival, art exhibitions, theatrical performances and concerts.
