Heesen Yachts has announced the launch of YN 17650 Project Akoya. The 50m semi-displacement yacht touched water during a private ceremony on Friday April 1, 2016. The Dutch shipyard announced the sale of this unit in May last year.

YN 17650 is a four-deck motoryacht and the fifth in the award-winning 50m class with exterior styling by Omega Architects.

The Dutch shipyard says that space has been optimised throughout the yacht to the highest possible internal volume under the 500gt threshold. The yacht has been designed to accommodate 12 guests in 6 staterooms.

YN 17650 will undergo intensive sea trials in the North Sea where she is expected to reach a top speed of 23 knots. She will be delivered to her owner in June 2016.
