Italy’s shipyard Otam has announced that the 35m motoryacht Gipsy will make her debut at the upcoming boat show in Monaco. She is the first unit of its semi displacement aluminium Custom range.

This new Otam SD35 is a three-deck yacht with a beam of 7.8m and 295gt. The yacht was ordered by an experienced Italian owner.

Otam claims Gipsy offers a unique amount of living space onboard. Her aluminium construction allows the yard, in close collaboration with the client, to create an original version that reflects personal taste both in interior layouts and exterior lines. These are work of yacht designer Tommaso Spadolini.

In addition, the new Otam SD35 has been designed with an efficient semi-displacement hull that will give the Otam SD35 a top speed of 20 knots and a range of over 2,000 nautical miles at 11 knots.

Otam says this project results from its engineering capabilities enhanced by the experience it has gained designing and building the Millennium Line together with Otam’s long-standing partner Naval Architect Umberto Tagliavini.

In designing the Otam Custom range special attention was paid to limiting her draft. The shipyard explains that the hull below the waterline features semi-tunnels that make the SD35 a versatile yacht, perfect for a comfortable cruise in international waters like US and the Caribbean, where a limited draft becomes a key factor to consider.
