Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo, which specialises in the construction of yachts over 24m, has announced a new and strategic collaboration with US designer Chris Bangle.

The agreement, on an exclusive basis for the next 10 years, marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sanlorenzo yachts and involves not only yacht design, but the entire shipyard, including the production site and the construction process.

Best known for his work as chief of design for BMW Group, where he was responsible for the BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce motorcars, Bangle has also collaborated on design projects for other important companies like Samsung and Hennessy.

Bangle is considered a real innovator, his styling themes generating intense controversy among automotive designers and having had a polarising effect with respect to their visual cues.

The announcement was made on the 10th anniversary of Sanlorenzo’s acquisition by Massimo Perotti. “In these days we are not only celebrating my fist 10 years in Sanlorenzo,” says Perotti, “but also opening a new development phase for Sanlorenzo.

“Chris is not only an amazing and world-famous designer, but also a talented manager, able to run complex and multicultural teams. Starting today, he will not only develop new outstanding yachts, but will also bring his expertise in shaping our future managerial culture.”
