Yachting Partners International (YPI), acting on behalf of the owner of Axioma, and Turkish shipyard Dunya Yachts have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to build Project Blade, a 100m vessel with exterior design by Ken Freivokh. The agreement was signed onboard the 72m (236ft) Axioma (ex-Red Square) at the Monaco Yacht Show last week.
Completed in 2013, Axioma was sold during the Monaco show in 2013 by YPI. Operating as a charter yacht she generated over $7m in her first year. The vessel has also recently completed 75 days of back-to-back charters during the Mediterranean season. The yacht is now officially on the market for sale.
With 450GT, Project Blade will be built to PYC and is said to incorporate a number of new design and construction techniques including important use of glass as part of the overall structure in the transom and bulk heads.
Dunya will build the yacht at its state-of-the-art Ursa shipyard at Tuzla. The facility operates Turkey’s only covered drydock with a capacity of 5,000 tonnes; a total area of 30,000sq m of which 18,000sq m is covered including a 120m (394ft) main construction hall and 180m (591ft) of quay.
