Nautibuoy Marine has schooped a DAME Design Award for its innovative multifunctional inflatable marine platforms. Awarded at the Breakfast Briefing that traditionally opens the METSTRADE show each year, NautiBuoy Marine won the deck equipment, sails and rigging category.

Launched in April 2015, NautiBuoy Marine’s inflatable platforms, which feature a patented modular air-toggle system, have a range of uses – from a swim and sunbathing platform, to a jet-ski dock or as a sturdy base for carrying out essential maintenance tasks.

Announcing Nautibuoy Marine as the winner, the judges commented, “We appreciated the four years of design that had gone into the production of the product and declared it a notable winner in a hotly contested category.”

Nina Anderson and Clay Builder developed the platform to fill a gap they saw in the market during their time working as superyacht crew. Commenting on the win, Clay says, “We are thrilled to win a DAME Award and to be recognised by some of the most influential people in the marine industry. The idea for the Nautibuoy platform stemmed from our frustrations we felt whilst working as crew and we felt our product solved a lot of these issues, so we are pleased the judges agreed.”

The next step for the company is the creation of a stand alone single platform, designed for boats in the 10-20 metre size range, which will be launched early next summer.

Now in its 25th year, The DAME Design Award is the most prestigious international design competition for new marine equipment and accessories. The independently appointed judges examine products in specific marine categories and the Awards now set the pace for new concepts and designs in the worldwide leisure marine industry.
