Montenegro’s leading operator, Adriatic Marinas, has announced that, by August 20, it had invested some €396m (US$447m) in its Porto Montenegro marina and related facilities.

Porto Montenegro was visited by between 11,000 and 13,000 tourists last summer, reports local business news site SEEnews.com. Its operator is currently in talks with potential partners, which include major yachting brands, to increase its appeal for seafarers and promote the marina, according to a company spokesperson.

In addition to this, the company is also mulling an investment worth between €12m (US$13.5m) and €15m (US$16.9m) under which it could build a new casino. With this aim, Adriatic Marinas has been negotiating with a number of major global operators in this sector.

The Montenegrin marina has 450 berths for yachts with a length of between 12m-180m (39ft-590ft). Of these, 350 are available for superyachts.
