Rick van de Wetering has replaced Hans Boerakker as director of operations at Heesen Yachts. He has also joined the Dutch yard’s board of directors.
Van de Wetering has more than 25 years’ experience in the global superyacht industry. Past roles include general manager, owner’s representative, and technical manager at some of the world’s top yards.
His career in yachting began at Heesen, where he had the chance to operate in numerous managerial roles. His knowledge and expertise in the overall yacht-building process spans from purely technical operations to aftersales, with a good insight on commercial aspects.
“The appointment of Rick van de Wetering demonstrates Heesen’s commitment to continuous improvement not only in the technical aspects of our yachts but also in the clients’ experience, a journey that begins here at our shipyard,” says Heesen in a statement. “In his role of director of operations Rick is an integral part to the success of our company.”
Founded in 1978, Heesen builds custom yachts from 37m-65m (122ft-213ft) at its yard in Oss in the southern Netherlands.
