Italy’s Azimut-Benetti Group has obtained BS OHSAS 18001 certification from RINA’s Technical Committee for safety at its Livorno production site.
The certification means that the group’s facility has an accurate control system regarding workers’ health and safety. This brings the number of certified group locations to 11, making Azimut-Benetti the first yacht-builder in the world to have gained multi-site certification.
Over 21,000 hours of training were necessary to obtain the certification, says the company. All possible risks were considered and evaluated, along with procedures on how to manage health surveillance, machinery and equipment maintenance, emergency reactions, and the distribution and use of personal safety devices.
More than 800 contractors have been involved in the yacht-building process at the company’s many sites, mainly at Benetti’s shipyards in Viareggio and Livorno.
