Baglietto, the La Spezia based yard celebrating its 160th birthday this year, has just secured an order for a 54m (177ft) steel and aluminium displacement yacht. The Francesco Paszkowski designed vessel should be delivered to her European owner in summer 2015.
Baglietto’s trademark is fast aluminium yachts up to 65m, along with navy ships, which are built at its 32,000 square metre yard. Under new management, the yard has been renewed and redesigned with the installation of a 720t travel lift and a new 120m basin.
Although similar to Baglietto’s product line of 53m yachts, like Blue Scorpion, Gitana and Baraka, the new order will have restyled lines and a sharp Nordic looking bow.
Two Caterpillar 3512B engines allow the yacht to reach a maximum speed of approximately 17 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots.
Baglietto is currently building the 54m and two 46m displacement yachts. A 58m yacht is undergoing tank trials; among planing yachts, a 43m and a 46m are under construction and a 38m craft is at the design stage.
