UK yachting specialist Berthon has launched an end-to-end service catering for superyacht tenders. The new business unit, which entered operation in January this year, provides repair, refit and refurbishment.
“This is an end-to-end service that enables us to pick up a tender, from anywhere in the world, work on the tender intensively then return them to the superyacht in pristine condition,” explains Brian May, managing director at Berthon.
Berthon stripped out, refitted and refurbished a 6m Pascoe tender for Feadship-built 46.5m Rahal. The tender was transported from Pascoe to Berthon’s facilities in Lymington (Hampshire, England) where she was worked on intensively by the tender project team.
Rahal uses a Pascoe 6m carbon-fibre RIB to transport guests to and from the motoryacht. The RIB gets plenty of additional use as a water sports and marine activities launch.
Commenting on the project, Jean du Preez, Rahal 2nd officer, said: ”I would like to thank you [Berthon] on behalf of my colleagues and Rahal for the work Berthon has done on our tender. You have done a great job on the hull, paintwork and sponson tube.”
Features of the RIB include a super-light carbon structure, a clear-coated carbon finish to the console and personalised outboard cover, a custom sound system, fly-by-wire controls, tender tracking, embroidered upholstery, a folding bow canopy and Dyneema self-stowing lifting strops. Both the hull and deck are vacuum moulded.
Trading since 1877, Berthon is a family-run business comprising Berthon Marina, Berthon Yacht Sales Division, Berthon Boat Company and the new superyacht tender support service.
