Commenting on the partnership, Charles Darby, Christophe Harbour’s director of development, says: “This marina will be the heartbeat of Christophe Harbour and unlike anything that exists in the region today, so it was imperative that we find a firm who could deliver a final product that met not only our internal expectations, but also those of the yachting industry.
Works on the site are scheduled to begin next month. The first stage of construction includes more than 800 linear feet of bulkhead and the 24-slip “A” dock, which will accommodate superyachts up to 67m yachts 220ft). Construction is expected to be complete late 2014, and the marina will be ready to operate in early 2015.
“We’re excited to be a part of this project and what we expect to be a long-term relationship with Christophe Harbour and The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis,” comments Hank VanZuthem, operations manager at American Bridge.
Spanning 2,500 acres (1011.7ha) on the southeastern peninsula of St. Kitts, in West Indies, Christophe Harbour marina comprises a residential development, a Park Hyatt hotel that will open in late 2015, and Tom Fazio championship golf course under construction.
