Columbus Yachts in Italy has announced that a 70m Oceanic Classic is currently under construction and aligned to its production plan schedule. The project, a steel and aluminium vessel, is one of the largest yachts in the world to be built on speculation.

The Naples-based shipyard says she will be capable of a range of 5000NM range at 11 knots and top speed of 18 knots.

The design of this new 70m Oceanic Classic is work of Vafiadis and Associates.

Columbus product line comprises steel and aluminium yachts available in four distinct collections: Liberty (26m to 38m), Berlinetta (33m to 50m), Oceanic Classic and Explorer (50m to 80m) and the Sport Hybrid.

The superyacht builder has four units on water to date including a 40m built in 2013, a 54m built in 2011, the 40m Sport Hybrid Divine and the 57m Classic Taiba, both launched in 2015.

Columbus Yachts is the new construction business unit of the Palumbo Group.
