Vagabundus, a 37-metre Continental Trawler, is currently under construction at Dutch shipyard Wim van der Valk Continental Yachts. The 250 tonne vessel can attain a speed of 14.5kn and is the first yacht to be equipped with the AntiRoll stabilization system.

With a proven ‘scientific report’, AntiRoll will provide the vessel with the ultimate stability whatever the conditions.

Scientific marine research institute Marin, in Wageningen, has been contracted to carry out a series of comprehensive tests on the AntiRoll system. The research focused particularly on determining the force the fin could generate and resist, not only whilst cruising, but also at zero speed.

The results revealed a successful outcome and the company reports that the model calculations proved extremely accurate. In comparison to conventional fins, the analysis revealed a reduction in resistance of 75%.
