The Damen's SeaXplorer family was unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show 2015. The range comprises three models in length ranging 65m, 90m and 100m. Hull #1of the 65m model is due for delivery in 2019.

Dutch shipyard Amels and Damen, its parent company, have announced the sale of SeaXplorer 65, the first yacht in SeaXplorer range.

Unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show 2015, Damen’s SeaXplorer family comprises three models in length ranging 65m, 90m and 100m.

The superyacht builder describes the SeaXplorer 65 as a crossover between professional technology and superyacht exclusivity.

The yacht has been designed to offer 40 days of autonomy without port call and complies with the stringent new environmental and safety standards in the IMO Polar Code B category. The yacht is also ready to comply wth the standards entering into force in 2017.

Polar expedition ready

Starting from the drawing board, Damen has designed every detail of the SeaXplorer range. A dedicated Damen SeaXplorer team developed the three designs in the Netherlands.

In addition, Damen selected Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture to work on the exterior lines for every model in the range.

The SeaXplorer range was developed following enquiries from a number of the shipyard’s experienced yachting clients about adapting its professional vessels.

The company took on the challenge and teamed up with EYOS Expeditions, who have decades of experience in bespoke luxury expeditions to the wildest places on the planet, to contribute its input.

During the design stages, the Dutch shipyard noted that optimising the hull for icebreaking would have directly compromised the seagoing performance of the yacht, so it decided on a double acting hull.

As a result, the SeaXplorer has a stern optimised for icebreaking conditions, while the bow benefits from its signature Sea Axe design.

Following the sale, the SeaXplorer 65 is scheduled for delivery in 2019.
