Chris Gongriep, founder of Holland Jachtbouw, has died four days after an apparent suicide, Dutch media reported on Tuesday. He was 70.

On December 9, Gongriep fell from a south Amsterdam apartment.

An avid sailor and real estate tycoon, Gongriep was media-shy and reportedly suffered from depression.

Gongriep turned Holland Jachtbouw, located on the western outskirts of Amsterdam, into premium maker of J-Class and other high-performance sailing yachts.
