Yacht Designers & Surveyors Association (YDSA) and Association of Brokers & Yacht Agents (ABYA) have launched two groups under the umbrella of Large Yacht Groups. The YDSA and ABYA are UK’s leading professional associations for designers, surveyors and brokers.
Commenting on the announcement, Robert Elliott, chairman of the Association of Brokers & Yacht Agents Large Yacht Group, says: “The growing number of large yachts being brought into service in recent years has created demand for a very specialised sector of marine professionals.
“The aim of the YDSA Large Yacht Group, therefore, is to become the internationally recognised professional body for large yacht surveyors and the first point of contact for anyone needing a skilled independent surveyor for a large yacht anywhere in the world,” concludes Elliott.
“It’s a very similar picture on the brokerage and yacht management side of the fence,” explains Richard Lambert of Burgess Yachts, chairman of the Association of ABYA Large Yacht Group.
“There is a growing need for those with experience in the superyacht sector, and the newly‐formed ABYA Large Yacht Group aims to be a centre of excellence for brokers in the superyacht arena.”
The ABYA and YDSA have both been active in establishing standards in surveying, design and brokerage since 1912, and now have established a worldwide network of independent specialists.
