Moran Yacht & Ship has signed a contract for the construction of project Thor, a 74-metre yacht due for delivery in 2016.
“This completely custom, full displacement motoryacht will feature interior volume larger than any other 242 ft (74m) floating today,” comments Sean Moran in a statement.
The Fort Lauderdale-based firm has teamed up with German shipyard Lürssen for this new build. Andrew Winch Designs will be responsible for both interiors and exteriors. The Moran Yacht & Ship New Construction team will work with the owner and shipyard to manage the build process from concept to completion.
Project Thor will have six cabins, and accommodation for 12 guests. The steel hull will have a beam of 13.2m and a draft of 3.75m. Further details remain confidential.
Thor is the first new order of 2014 for the German shipyard, and the 13th active project. In October 2013, Lürssen delivered MY Solandge, an 85-metre yacht featuring exteriors by Espen Oeino, and interiors by Aileen Rodriguez. Construction was overseen by the owner’s project manager Richard Masters of Master Yachts.
Solandge has been created as a family yacht with a focus on the charter sector. Featuring a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she provides accommodation for 14 people and a crew of 29. All the guest cabins are located in the main deck. They are all in a transitional design between a clean backdrop running through the rest of the boat and a selection of wood veneers to add a classical twist.
Equipped with two CAT 3516, 2.000 KW at 1.600 rpm, Solandge has a maximum speed of 17kts and cruising speed of 14kts.
