Marine Hydraulic Solutions (MHS), a specialist marine hydraulic service, formed in Palma de Mallorca last month. The company was founded by Steve Branagh, owner of RSB Rigging Solutions, and RSB general manager Peer Jorgensen to meet the increasing demand for specialist marine hydraulic service in the region.

Thomas Weiss has been recruited to head up the team and opened the workshop in the winter of 2013. Weiss has spent more than a decade as an engineer, chief mate and captain onboard several well-known yachts and has also worked ashore on new-build yacht and refit installations, as well as maintenance roles at various yards.

“Since the launch of MHS we have been overwhelmed with the response from the clients,” says Weiss. “We are working to capacity and so already looking to expand our team again in the very near future. We accredit this success to our excellent team of highly qualified engineers and our combined experience in the industry. We are looking forward to continuing to work on some excellent projects.”

MHS provides a complete hydraulic and pneumatic service from routine servicing of hydraulic systems, testing, analysis, parts sourcing and replacement to system design, modification and installation.
The company offers clients a thorough system analysis and efficiency study to ensure vital equipment such as pipe-work, power packs and valves are working effectively.

In the meantime, RSB Rigging Solutions has announced that it stepped three big rigs in two days last week, despite the inclement weather. The first was Perini Navi’s 50m ketch Is A Rose, followed by the 34m sloop Nephele.

“The guys did an amazing job getting the rigs built for both boats just in time to avoid the next big low pressure coming through,” says director Steve Branagh. “Re-stepping masts at this time of year is always a bit of a weather lottery but with our flexible team we can work around this and make every effort to stay on schedule and keep the boat happy.”

Founded in 2005, RSB Rigging Solutions provides a complete service for the maintenance, repair and replacement of standing and running rigging and has also completed a large number of composite rigging retrofits. In the last three years the company has extended more into the motoryacht market and has been involved with a number of superyachts.
