Amsterdam RAI has added a South Korean pavilion to this year’s Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam, bringing the total number of country pavilions to 18. Two recent additions, Slovenia and China, were added to the list in September.
“We are very pleased to introduce a second Asian pavilion,” says Sarah Westdijk, product manager METS. “It is still very modest in size, but we have no doubt that it will grow significantly now they have the country pavilion as both a flag and an umbrella under which they can present their companies, facilitating the move of other South Korean companies.”
Located in Hall 11, the South Korean pavilion was established with the assistance of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). Exhibitors include BaekSan Propeller, Bay Industrial, DJ Pump, Kyungin Corporation/Mirasol and Pretech Marine.
Present at the very first METS were pavilions by the UK and US. Within five years, Denmark, Italy, Sweden, Finland, France, the Netherlands and Canada had also taken up pavilions. The next five years saw Germany and Norway join as well.
By the time METS celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2002, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand and Spain had boosted the number of country pavilions to 15.
METS 2013 will be held from November 19-21 at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre in the Netherlands.
