refitTaylor Lane Yacht & Ship (TLYS), in Fort Lauderdale, has differentiated itself from its competitors by offering complete autonomy for owners.

Its customers are allowed to choose and manage contractors, suppliers and the level of support they want. Customers can run their project entirely by themselves, with no shipyard support at all, although it says it can assist to any desired level.

The shipyard management is run by former yacht captains and engineers who understand that owners, managing companies and captains often have their own methods of working. The vessels are entitled supply their own contractors, which only have to present proof of insurance to the shipyard in order for them to work on the premises.

TLYS is operating out of the recently rebuilt Powell Brothers facility on the newly dredged Dania Cut Off Canal, just south of Port Everglades and one mile west of the Intracoastal Waterway. The yard can deal with yachts of up to 91m (300ft).
