Yacht management expert Michael Reardon has announced the opening of Reardon Yacht Consulting (RYC). Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, RYC aims to provide yacht and superyacht owners, captains, brokers, and charter agents with a full menu of highly customised professional yacht management services, including ISM and MLC implementation, management of new build and refit projects, and crew management.
RYC founder and president Reardon has nearly 30 years of experience in operating and managing yachts and superyachts. Following a youth spent racing sailing yachts and crewing aboard tall ships, he pursued an education in engineering and naval architecture. In the late 1980s, Reardon began his formal career in the yachting industry with six years of service as captain of private and charter sailing and motoryachts from New England to Grenada.
“Working with some of the biggest companies in the yachting industry has given me a unique opportunity to gain experience in all phases of international yacht and charter yacht management,” Reardon explains. “Now I am delighted to have the chance to draw on my knowledge base to provide my exceptionally high level of service to clients in the setting of a much smaller, high-touch firm.”
Over the course of his career to date, Reardon has provided yacht management services for several yachts, including Charade, Glaze, Zoom Zoom Zoom, Pegasus II (ex-Alfa Four), Halter Pangaea, Amaryllis, the 257′ Royal Denship Pegasus V (ex-Princess Mariana), and Octopus.
In addition, Reardon is an active member of the US Superyacht Association (USSA). He will serve as moderator of the Keynote Panel for the upcoming USSA Superyacht Summit on March 24-25, 2015 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Reardon also is a founding member of the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA) Yacht Management Committee, and member of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA).
