The American motoryacht builder will unveil its Quik Code System (QR code), which will link to the relevant pages in the owner’s manual, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The show will run from 30th October to 3rd November.
When a QR code is scanned it directs a smartphone or tablet to a particular web page. By scanning the code printed on a particular piece of equipment on board an Outer Reef yacht, owners, captains and engineers can save the effort of flipping through the pages of their manual to find the information they are looking for.
Outer Reef has said this is not the first time the company has been an early adopter of new technology. It claims to be the first long-range yacht manufacturer to provide an iPad version of the owner’s manual.
Jeff Druek, president and CEO of Outer Reef Yachts, explains: “A streamlined information-gathering experience, with the click of a button, will help the owner better maintain and manage various equipment and electronics.
“By employing time-saving, cutting-edge technology, we make it easier for owners to spend more time cruising and enjoying their Outer Reef.”
Following its unveiling at Fort Lauderdale, the new Quik Code System will be rolled out on all Outer Reef models worldwide.
