UK boatbuilder Oyster Yachts has signed a contract for its first yacht to a Chinese client who plans to base the vessel in mainland China.
Hull No 2 of the new Oyster 675 will begin fit-out in June and will be handed over in the UK in early summer 2017 before being shipped to China.
“Over the past few years Chinese interest in Oyster yachts has been increasing steadily and we have sold a few new and brokerage yachts to Asian clients, mostly however to be based in the Mediterranean or Australia,” says Oyster CEO David Tydeman. “This contract for a yacht to be based in China is very exciting and no doubt will help our international marketing efforts in Asia.”
The build will overlap the completion of the first Oyster 675 by a couple of months. At the start of 2016, Hull No 1 of the Oyster 675 had its deck fitted at the company’s Wroxham yard in Norfolk. Sailing trials of the first yacht will be held in the Solent this summer.
