The new Phuket Charter & Brokerage Show, originally proposed for December 2014, is now to be held from February 13-16, 2015.
The change of date follows a wide-ranging survey among charter, brokerage and other companies which identified support for an event towards the end of the Phuket season. The organisers, the Singapore Yacht Show, say the change of date will also attract more visitors than the earlier date and allow more time for the venue, the Yacht Haven Marina, to complete a major new investment programme.
A spokeswoman for Yacht Haven Marina indicated to IBI that the investment would involve some 200 berths for yachts up to 100m (328ft) or more. A planning application for the new berths has been made, but approval is still awaited. It is not known how long the build time will be or what the level of investment in the new berths is.
Phil Blake, SYS’s event director, suggested to IBI that it was hopeful to attract at least one yacht of up to 100m or more to the show in 2015. He also said that at least one yacht of 70m is expected at the Singapore Yacht Show next April.
