Pride Mega Yachts (PMY), China’s biggest large superyacht builder, has lost a key director. Itay Simhony, who was overseeing the build of the 88.8m (292ft) Illusion, has left the company.

Attempts to contact Simhony have proved in vain so no reasons for his sudden departure in late August are known. He has been closely associated with the yard for several years, bringing experience of yacht design, construction and project management. He has worked in Europe and Australasia as well as Asia.

PMY has announced it plans to launch a 115m superyacht concept at the Monaco show. The company has taken a larger stand to enhance its market presence following the launch of the Pride branding at Monaco last year. SB’s sister title IBI has reported that if the yard does not gain a new order, then they will build the 100m-plus design on spec as PMY did with Illusion.

A feature on Illusion is contained in the latest issue of Superyacht Business.

Roger Friedrich, another Pride director, is now responsible for overseeing the construction of Illusion and company marketing. Friedrich has a strong track record in dealing with very large superyacht projects including time in the Middle East working with Greenline Design.
