Performance Yacht Painting (PYP), a French specialist in superyacht paintwork, has teamed up with Italian fairing company VeGa Yachts to provide a specialist service for new-build fairing and finishing.
Work has already begun on their first project together – a 44m Couach currently under construction at the Couach shipyard near Bordeaux in southwest France.
“The partnership between our two companies will enable us to provide new-build shipyards in Europe with an excellent level of service and a larger pool of experienced and mobile applicators that currently stands at 180 professionals with additional personnel at hand when needed,” says Gilles Deply, managing director of PYP.
VeGa Yachts has considerable experience in fairing on new builds, having worked on over 200 projects since the company was founded in 1986. Past clients include Azimut Benetti, Baglietto, Eurocraft, Mondo Marine, Mariotti and Tankoa.
“After 30 years of working in the Italian new-build market, we believe that we have the experience and technical skills to approach larger projects, further afield,” says Gaetano Vella at VeGa Yachts. “We have worked with PYP on a number of projects and the combination of our skill sets will greatly benefit our clients.”
PYP specialises in painting for superyachts and has more than 15 years’ experience on major new-build and refinish projects.
In 2015 PYP acquired the activities of French subcontractor Hydrasud in La Ciotat in the South of France.
November 2015 issue errata
In November’s Paints & Coatings article (p62) we reported that PYP had ‘completed coating and recoating contracts for more than 30 yachts from 20 to 130m in 15 years of operation’. This number should have been 300.
