Turkish superyacht builder RMK has opened a new brokerage division. The company announced its services at the 2015 Eurasia Boat Show in Istanbul.
RMK Brokerage and Yacht Services provides corporate services to clients in second-hand yacht buying, yacht consultancy and technical issues.
The company has also started to represent Italian yacht brand Ranieri in Turkey and represented the brand at the Eurasia show.
RMK is part of the Koç conglomerate, which also has investments in marine businesses such as Eastmarine, a Turkish retailer of boating supplies, and the Setur marinas chain.
Rahmi Koç, honorary chairman of Koç Group, says: “The Turkish marine sector is growing rapidly and has a promising future. Turkey has the capabilities to compete with Italy and France. We’re investing in the marine sector to improve it and make it more competitive.”
He also compared the Turkish yacht sector with the automotive sector. “Our yacht sector looks like the automotive sector 20-30 years earlier,” he said. “The automotive sector today has reached European standards. The yacht sector should be more professional and clients should get the services with the full knowledge of the costs and prices.”
