The 2014 Dubai International Boat Show was opened today by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and vice president of the United Arab Emirates.

The show is showing some growth in exhibitors, with the market having seen an upturn in the past six months – buoyed by positive economic growth in Dubai after five years of recession.

The total number of boats on show is 430, including two of the largest superyachts ever exhibited at the show – the 88.5m Nirvana built by Oceanco and the 88m Quattroelle by Lürssen.

Local builder Gulf Craft exhibited its latest 135ft superyacht under its Majesty Yacht brand and six other yachts from its extensive range.

A total of 750 exhibitors from 50 countries are present at the five-day show, which runs until 8 March at the Dubai International Marine Club in Mina Seyahi.
