Around 100 exhibitors are anticipated to sign up for the new SO! (Superyacht Owners) Dalian luxury lifestyle show being held July 3-6 at the new East Port Marina. Of these as many 40% could be yacht exhibitors, according to event founder Delphine Lignieres.
Among leading yacht brands that have already signed up are Azimut-Benetti, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Lürssen, Sanlorenzo, Sunseeker Asia and Hatteras. SB knows that the Ferretti Group, which is now Chinese-owned, is also very close to signing up. A Chinese source told SB: “They are 90% in favour but still have to make the final decision.”
In terms of Chinese companies, Pride Mega Yachts, the superyacht division of the CIMC-Raffles company, is also going to exhibit, as is NDA, the leading French marina design, consultancy and engineering group.
In a press statement China Rendezvous, the organising company of SO Dalian, says the event “aims to promote the tourism destination and marine culture of the north of China. The northern area of China has gradually become a more and more important area for the luxury lifestyle nationwide, especially Dalian, which is the Northern Pearl of the Bohai Gulf.”
Lignieres commented: “The show will fully focus on marine economy and coastal culture, to rebuild the Chinese marine lifestyle in Dalian utilising the multi-elements of fashion, luxury brands including yachts and aircraft, art and sport.”
A three-day regatta for yachts will be held with boats coming from Qingdao. This will in part be an educational experience in that a number of the sailors will not have spent nights on their boats at sea previously.
Also on the sport side will be a beach polo tournament, the first event of its type to be held in Dalian.
Among the aviation and luxury sector exhibitors signed up are Airbus, Dassault, La Martina, Gaggenau Voss, Advini, Monaco Tourism Board and Lucien Barel.
