Two superyachts were ravaged by a marina fire in the Turkish town of Marmaris early on the morning of January 4th.

It is believed that the fire started at around 0200 local time onboard 73m Lürssen built The One. 35-knot winds helped to spread the flames to 52m GRP vessel Barbie, which was moored nearby.

Local broker Eliad Hagiladi of Yacht Marine filmed the blaze in the early hours and also got some close-up footage of the firefighters’ salvage efforts during the daylight hours, as they pumped water out of the burned superyachts.

As the video below shows, Barbie was badly burned and had begun listing to port, sparking fears that the vessel might sink. Launched in 2006, she was built in Dubai by the Al Jadaf shipyard.

Hagliadi was keen to point out that all of his brokerage vessels had escaped the fire unscathed, although some vessels had to be anchored outside of the marina as a safety precaution.
