VBH, a major provider of luxury technology and IT systems for superyachts, is introducing the Ming steward call system alongside its own steward call technology to its superyacht clients.
The German-made Ming is easy to use and requires no instructions or technical know-how. A compact cylinder with a single, large button on the top, the user simply chooses between giving either a short or long press, each of which has a separate pre-agreed meaning. This is received by a designated crew member who responds accordingly. The buttons can be crafted in any metal and wrapped in any hide or covering that the client chooses, and decorated further if required.
The Ming complements VBH’s own steward call system which offers a greater range of options and versatility via the familiarity of an iPad. Bespoke software allows each yacht to specify exactly the functionality that it requires. This can include additional touch-screen buttons to convey specific requirements such as requesting a particular type of drink or the need for fresh towels. The VBH system also uses Wi-Fi, allowing each iPad to work from anywhere on board, whereas the Ming uses Zigbee, making each button dedicated to a single zone.
