“We are excited to be working on this project and hope it gives confidence to other captains and owners to come forward and discover the benefits of using Färben products too” comments Wild Group director Greg Hoar.
Aviva (formerly Aviva III) is a 68m motoryacht custom built in 2007 by German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen and refitted in 2012 by Palumbo Superyachts Refit.
She has a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure with a beam of 12.3m (40’4″ft) and is now at the Miami-based yard waiting for a team of Wild Group installers. The team will fly out in the new year and the project is expected to be completed in approximately three weeks.
The captain researched various methods of finishing and discovered that by using foils and films the project timescale would be significantly reduced. The decision was made to opt in favour for foils and films following a visit to the Monaco show where the client was able to see up close the quality and finish on a couple of similar large projects completed earlier this year by Wild Group.
“I believe the new Färben foils and films offer a superior finish to what’s currently on the market,” says Wild Group’s Hoar.
The specific marine foils used have been colour matched to Awlgrip battle ship grey by Färben Foils who are currently working with Wild Group to develop tougher, stronger and glossier films and foils for the marine market.
The advantages of a simpler application means there is less labour time and cost as well as less time in the yard.
