The ASMEX conference takes place from Monday 20 – Wednesday 22 May at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort and promises to be an important, professional and business focused networking event for the Australian Marine industry events calendar. The conference also offers a social programme to allow for the opportunity to network. As well as this, there is a high quality line up of local and international speakers presenting on a range of topical and relevant issues. Here is a short summary of each:

Ed Slack is the editor of the world’s leading business title for the leisure marine sector, (SB’s sister title) International Boating Industry and its website Slack has previously visited Australia to profile their marine businesses and products. He will be giving an overview of the European marine sector and what the future holds for this established market.

John Lu is the chief executive of Horizon Yachts and has a degree in naval architecture. Lu has consistently expanded his company by focusing on foreign target markets, such as Asia, Europe and Australia. He will be speaking of his experience in identifying the key measures and tactics when exporting on an international scale.

Martin Baum is the MD of Pantaenius who has over 70,000 clients on a global scale. Baum has been integral in increasing the companies market share through widening international cooperation, as well as developing a new superyacht team that operates in Europe, Asia and USA. He will be providing an outline of the market from an insurance perspective.

Erwin Bamps is the COO of Gulf Craft and is returning to speak at the conference for the second time. He will provide an update on the current business environment in the UAE and offer his perception of the market globally.

Bryan Jones is the head of sales for Australasia and The Americas at Fairline and will be sharing the perspective of a boatbuilder. He will talk about Fairline’s inroads into Asia, as well as how boat builders can break into the established markets in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Peter Busfield is the CEO of New Zealand Marine and will be representing the importance of a close relationship between neighbouring countries. He will be discussing the two nation’s synergies and what needs to be done to drive business to the southern hemisphere.

Sam Sorgiovanni is an internationally renowned superyacht designer. He will be educating people about the current superyacht market trends and the key to success on a global scale.
