Atlantic Yachts has chosen German yard Nobiskrug to build a line of 85m (279ft) motoryachts designed and powered by Rolls-Royce.
Rolls-Royce Marine in Norway has designed and engineered the NVC 85 Y yachting platform. Atlantic Yachts, founded by former Blohm & Voss and CRN representative in the US Paul Madden, commissioned the design of the NVC 85 Y.
Killian Yacht & Ship Brokers has been selected to represent the new line of yachts for brokerage.
Rolls-Royce’s hull forms provide the basis of the NVC 85 Y. All major power and propulsion systems will be engineered and built by Rolls-Royce. Each vessel will be designed to minimise fuel consumption and negative environmental impact. Interior designs will be available, but owners have the option to provide their own.
“I have been talking to people about this project for two years and there are plenty of capable and interested buyers out there,” Atlantic Yachts’ Madden told Superyacht Business. “We have been talking with a number of possible clients from the Middle East, the US and Latin America.”
Rolls-Royce Marine specialises in power, propulsion and motion control solutions and has equipment installed on 20,000 yachts, commercial and naval vessels worldwide.
Nobiskrug in Rendsburg, Germany builds and converts yachts of 60m (197ft) and above. In summer 2009 the yard became part of the Abu Dhabi Mar group, which also includes French yard CMN and ADM Shipyards in the Middle East.
