The value of Italian superyacht production dropped 23 per cent in 2009 according to the annual statistical analysis of the Italian marine industry, carried out by Italian marine federation UCINA and the University of Genoa.

Superyachts destined for export held up better than those sold on the domestic market, as the turnover generated by the production of yachts for export dropped 9.6 per cent in 2009 compared to a drop of 56 per cent in turnover generated by yachts destined for the domestic market.

UCINA used data provided by a representative sample of superyacht builders to track changes in the turnover generated by Italy’s production of yachts above 24m (79ft) between 2008-2009.
