After a wait of more than a month for administrative approvals, the US west coast superyacht refit and repair company Knight & Carver has now opened its new 4,000t capacity dry dock.

Called Diligence, the new 122m (400ft) long dock significantly increases the San Diego-based yard’s ability to work on superyachts, as well as commercial and government

“We’ve always been proud of our long heritage as a full-service marine facility,” says Knight & Carver’s CEO, Michael J O’Leary. “And the exciting addition of Diligence promises to open another productive chapter to our history. We’re ready to grow again.”

O’Leary expects to take on up to 100 extra workers over the coming months in order to keep up with demand now that the dock has finally opened.
