The Dutch yacht-building industry has introduced new regulations for the construction of large vessels. As of July 1, 2009, all yachts over 24m (79ft) that were built in accordance with the technical requirements of the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s (MCA) Large Yacht Code 2 can be registered under the Dutch flag. This means that potential yacht owners can now go to Holland for the design, construction, registration and operation of their yacht, says industry body HISWA.

“This represents a genuine breakthrough and a crucial boost for the Dutch yachtbuilding industry,” says HISWA manager of yacht-building Micha
