Two Singapore-based commercial shipyards are to redevelop parts of their yards in order to create dedicated superyacht refit and repair facilities.

The yards in question are Dauphin Shipyard Pte and McPec Marine & Offshore Engineering Pte.

Dauphin, which has been active in the 35m-80m superyacht sector since 2000, currently has a 55m hull available for which the recently formed UK-based yacht design company Claydon Reeves has put forward several design options in the hope of interesting a potential buyer.

New investment in a dedicated paint shed and increasing its lifting capacity from 1,000t to 1,100t are also part of Dauphin’s plans.

At McPec, a new floating dock and a paint shed are on the agenda to help its move into the superyacht sector.
