A new superyacht show is due to take place in China this year. Organised by China Rendez-Vous (CRDV), the three-day event is scheduled to run from April 2-4 at Visun Marina in Sanya, a city in the southern Hainan province.

The 2010 China Rendez-Vous is being sponsored by the Hainan government and is expected to strengthen the island’s reputation as the new Chinese Riviera. “Hainan is determined to grow its marine and yachting industries as a key component of a wider tourism strategy,” says Luo Baoming, governor of Hainan Province.

A number of leading yacht manufacturers have already confirmed their presence at this year’s show, including brands such as Azimut-Benetti, Sunseeker, Princess Yachts, Lurssen, Bloem & Voss, Royal Huisman, Marquis Yachts, Ferretti Yachts and Pershing. For the first time in China, yachts of over 50m (164ft) will be displayed.

“We provide brand new, first class business opportunities in a very wealthy and largely unexploited market,” says Delphine Lignieres, CRDV director. “The demand is huge and we expect over 5,000 visitors to discover this prestige show. At a time when business in the rest of the world is tough, the development of the Chinese yachting market offers fantastic opportunities to the industry.”
