Hermann Schaedla, former CEO of Abeking & Rasmussen, passed away suddenly this week at the age of 76.
Schaedla headed the German superyacht-builder for more than five decades. Under his management, the small yard in Lemwerder evolved into one of the world’s leading names in the yacht and naval shipbuilding fields.
In 1959, Schaedla took over the company from his grandfather and company founder Henry Rasmussen when he was aged just 24.
He handed control to his son, Hans Schaedla, in 2009, although Hermann was still very much involved with the yard’s operations.
