Ocean Alexander, an Asian yacht-builder with factories in China and Taiwan, has teamed up with Christensen Yachts in the US to produce a new 35m (115ft) tri-deck motoryacht.
The new yacht will be ABS/MCA certified and will provide chartering capabilities previously unavailable in any yacht smaller than 40m (130ft). Construction will take place at Christensen’s Vancouver, Washington shipyard, where the company currently builds yachts from 49m-69m (160ft-225ft).
“We feel this alliance will present mutual opportunities in our combined range of sizes, where one client may want to move into the 160ft-plus range; or down-size from a larger yacht into something requiring less crew,” says Christensen president and MD Joe Foggia.
“In this new economy, we feel that this alliance, coupled with our diverse strengths, will allow us to compete more effectively by ensuring better materials buying power, and applying our joint vision of top-quality standards and production techniques carried through the whole product range. In the end, the yachts produced will be of great quality, and will provide enhanced value while commanding reputable re-sale to our clients.”
Ocean Alexander, which is based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, recently expanded its product range to include 35m (115ft), 38m (125ft) and 44m (145ft) yachts, partnering with designer Evan K Marshall.
