The 50m (164ft) MY Exuma built by Italian shipyard Perini Navi’s Picchiotti brand has been awarded the RINA Green Plus Platinum standard, the highest achievable ranking within the RINA environmental rules.
“Today we are delivering the first Green Plus Platinum, RINA’s highest green notation,” says Ugo Salerno, CEO of RINA.
He continues; “This important goal is the result of a synergy between RINA, design engineers, shipyards and ship owners, to obtain the highest level of environmental impact reduction. Thanks to this sensitivity, RINA has become the promoter of a real ‘green revolution’ in all the sectors it operates in, and continues to invest over 10 per cent of its annual turnover into research and development in order to be proactive with new technological solutions capable of anticipating international regulations.”
Built by Italian company Picchiotti, a brand of the Perini Navi Group, designed by Vitruvius Ltd and with the naval architecture of Philippe Briand, MY Exuma has achieved her environmental performance through a naval architecture study intended to increase the yacht’s efficiency. Technical solutions such as hull form optimisation, construction material and weight saving choices all add to the projects credentials.
Furthermore the yacht has been equipped with the most advanced machinery for the treatment of waste waters (bilge, sewage and grey), diesel engines in compliance with the strictest regulations on exhaust gas emission and she will be operated following dedicated on board environmental procedures.
The Green Plus notation is granted to new vessels that make a significant investment in design solutions, onboard equipment and operational procedures that contribute to an improvement in environmental performance beyond the minimum levels required by international regulations on environmental protection.
