Southern Spars’ Rig Pro has teamed up with RSB Rigging Solutions in Palma de Mallorca to offer a new superyacht service operation in the Med.
Under the terms of the agreement, RSB will undertake service and refit work on Southern Spars masts and rigging at RSB’s workshop at the STP yard in Palma, and will also have the capability to perform EC6 retrofits on existing masts.
The workshop has recently undergone a major refurbishment, with the addition of new equipment such as a 750-tonne travel hoist.
RSB general manager Steve Branagh is an ex-yacht captain with both superyacht cruising/charter experience and a grand prix racing background. Having worked on new-build projects, major refits and many new yachts commissioning in Europe, he has extensive contacts in the industry.
“Southern Spars has always recognised the need to have a high quality service operation in a key Mediterranean superyacht port of call,” says Paul MacDonald, Southern Spars’ Rig Pro general manager. “RSB is a reputable and dominant player in the market and we view the partnership in Palma as the best way to deliver these services to our clients located in the Med.”
RSB Rigging Solutions provides a complete service for the maintenance, repair and replacement of standing and running rigging.
Rig Pro provides repair, service and maintenance to racing and cruising yachts whether they carry Southern Spars rigs or other brands. The company has centres in New Zealand, the US, South Africa and now Spain.
