More than 25 representatives from the global superyacht market met during the Phuket International Marine Expo (PIMEX) in Thailand last month to discuss the creation of a superyacht association for the Asia-Pacific region.

Those attending the meeting (pictured) have agreed in principle to create and launch the association in order to attract more superyachts to the region. Lobbying governments to open up all territorial waters for visiting yachts is another key objective.

A further meeting will take place in Singapore in April, after which it is hoped that the association will be formalised and begin work.

Those wishing to join the association should contact the Superyacht Singapore Association, Thai Marine Business Association or The Indonesian Superyacht Association for more information.
