At the Monaco Yacht Show, Benetti’s executive team announced the launch of a new division called Benetti Now. The division will be tasked with the creation of four semi-custom yachts ranging in size from 50m-73m. The yachts will be called the B164, B192, B214 and B240.
“The 164 and 194 are already in production,” Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Benetti, told a gathering of editors at a special event in Monaco. “The clients for these yachts will have the freedom to customise their yachts, but they also like the fact that they can get yachts this large in about half the time that it takes to build a custom yacht.” Poerio said that Benetti would continue to build its Custom yachts.
The new yachts were designed by Stefano Natucci, who has collaborated with the shipyard on many projects over the years. The new B series will come in two potential exterior designs. The first has a sharply pointed bow, giving the forward portion of the boat an aggressive look. The second style is a vertical bow.
The interiors will be designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon. That London-based firm had previously designed the interiors for Benetti’s Class series. “It’s all about the collaboration,” Justin Redman said during the presentation. “We’ve been fortunate over the years to be designing the interiors of larger Benettis and have been able to apply our knowledge to the Now series.”
Poerio said that the Now name came from the builder’s ability to deliver these semi-custom yachts in a potentially much shorter time frame than a custom project of the same size. “We will use our knowledge of building 350 yachts with this new series in order to save and respect time,” says Poerio. “We can also avoid many of the headaches that typically come with Custom projects. We’ll use all the best practices we’ve learned over the years to build these beautiful yachts.”
