Blohm+Voss has announced the appointment of Joris Neven as director of sales of its superyacht division. The new recruit, effective 1 February, follows on the investment plan the German shipyard unveiled in June last year.
The plan included the creation of the superyacht division, further investment in the BV80 project, the introduction of a superyacht life cycle management programme and the expansion of the sales team.
“We have already made significant progress in all of these areas. In particular, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Joris Neven,” says B+V CEO Fred van Beers.
Neven is a Belgian citizen and former seagoing deck officer in the merchant navy. With over 20 years’ experience in the shipbuilding industry, he has held senior positions with Damen Shipyards, Chantier Piriou and Royal IHC.
B+V is in the process of establishing a permanent base in Monaco. The location will be headed up by Patrick Coote who will oversee operations as managing director. He will be working jointly with Joris Neven in Hamburg to facilitate future growth.
In addition, the German shipyard has plans to open offices in the Americas and the Middle East. As well as handling the sales of new construction projects, the team will oversee the sale of refit services and life cycle support services.
Several new positions will become available as the recruitment drive continues. “We have solid expansion plans and we are actively seeking qualified candidates with outstanding sales and marketing skills to ensure the optimum levels of staff and expertise for the superyacht sector and to facilitate future growth,” Fred van Beers concludes.
