Supercar manufacturer Bugatti has teamed up with motoryacht builder Palmer Johnson for the development a new yacht series Niniette. The range is made of a 42, 63 and 88ft model.
Under licence granted by Bugatti, the yacht-maker has pencilled open, carbon-fibre sport yachts, featuring distinctive Bugatti design elements and advanced materials.
As with the sports cars, the Bugatti design team followed its approach “Form follows Performance”. The carbon fibre hull designed for the Niniette takes up style elements of Bugatti’s iconic classic cars — such as the falling shoulder line of the Bugatti Type 57 C Atalante and balanced proportions of the Type 41 Royale — and combines them with the hull shape of Palmer Johnson’s SuperSport series.
The close link between the Palmer Johnson Niniette and Bugatti’s design DNA is also evident from the accentuated waistline and the typical two-tone colour scheme. For Niniette, the dark blue exposed carbon fiber matches the brown bubinga, maple or naturally blue morta oak wood on deck.
Palmer Johnson’s SuperSport mono-hull is designed with two sponsons for greater stability at speeds and at anchor. According to the yacht builder, the top speed of the carbon fibre yacht is 38 knots.
The PJ63 Niniette is the series flagship model. The 20m yacht with 6m beam features a 63sq m salon on deck, a 43sqm salon below deck, accommodation for up to four guests and a crew cabin.
On request, Bugatti can tailor the interior to meet customers’ individual requirements.
Her sister models are the PJ42 Niniette and the PJ88 Niniett, all with production time of about 12 months.
“This very special project brings together two brands with more than 100 years of experience in high-end hand crafting in their respective fields,” says Stefan Brungs, member of the board of management of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. responsible for sales and marketing.
“Bugatti and Palmer Johnson share outstanding lightweight design expertise. Inspired by Bugatti’s design DNA, Palmer Johnson has created not only an incredibly elegant and beautiful yacht but also a masterpiece of craftsmanship featuring carbon fibre titanium and precious wood. This collector’s item will thrill maritime aficionados.”
Commenting on the new project, Timur Mohamed, owner of Palmer Johnson, says: “The Palmer Johnson Niniette is the result of a maverick vision to perfect that delicate alchemy between desire and demand. Bugatti and Palmer Johnson are united by the vision of not just thinking outside the box but moving into completely uncharted waters.”
