Otam, the Genoa-based shipyard, has announced that construction of Gipsy, the first Otam SD35 unit, progresses on schedule. The project is a three deck 35m long, 7.8m beam yacht in build for an experienced Italian owner who was searching for a fully custom aluminium yacht. The yacht features interiors and the exteriors designed by Tommaso Spadolini.
Construction is on time for 30% completion stage. The hull is finished, propulsion systems and generators have been installed and the superstructure is almost completed.
Otam says Gipsy, a 295grt displacement yacht, offers a unique-in-the-category amount of living space onboard and higher flexibility for full customisation.
Naval Architect Umberto Tagliavini has designed a very efficient semi-displacement hull for this first Otam SD 35 aiming for a top speed of 22ks and a considerable range of 1,000 nautical miles at 11knots.
Special attention was paid to her draft. The hull below the waterline features semi-tunnels that limit the draft. This makes the SD 35 a very versatile yacht, perfect for comfortable cruise in international waters like the US and the Caribbean’s where a limited draft becomes a key factor to consider.
